Happy Black Friday from your friendly neighbourhood shopping editor! I confess that when senior shopping writer Alice Cary asked me yesterday what I was buying in the sales this year, I realised that, shockingly, there wasn’t really anything on my wishlist. Granted, two weeks ago I forked out on a Levi’s X Sacai denim jacket from Vinted, but aside from being 50 per cent cheaper than it would have been full-price, it doesn’t really count.
However, there is one category that I tend to hold off buying until the seasonal sales, and that is activewear – specifically, activewear from Lululemon. As a self-confessed “gym bore” (although earlier this month I ran a marathon, so for three months I became a running bore – fun!), I find myself spending a disproportionate amount of time in Lycra, and Lululemon has always been my go-to for comfort, function and style.
Of course, truth be told, regularly investing in high-quality performance sportswear can become an expensive habit, so the Black Friday sale presents a great opportunity to nab the best bits for less (that being said, the brand also has a great “we made too much” section, where you can find year-round discounts).
Some of my favourite Lululemon pieces include the Fast and Free running tights, that come with five handy pockets – essential for storing keys/gels/headphones on longer runs – meanwhile for yoga and pilates, I wear by the Aligne V-neck bra (it also comes in bra cup sizes C/D and DDD/G). The ever-popular Define jacket has also been discounted in both cropped and hooded iterations – in fact, model Zuza Bryk styled her sage-green Define jacket with flared jeans and heeled boots between shows at New York Fashion Week, which served as proof that these pieces have (legging-clad) legs beyond the gym. Scroll on for the pieces that I’ve got my eye on in the sale.
