7 Jacket Trends To Ring In Spring 2026
You can usually mark your calendar by the day when it’s finally time for a jacket instead of a coat. The annual shedding usually begins around the beginning of March, which means you might, quite rightly, be wondering why we’re discussing this now. My response is that, like a swimsuit or a wedding-guest dress, it always pays to get the jump on the rest of the population when it comes to key seasonal pieces.
This is especially relevant for spring/summer 26 because the variety of jackets on offer – with leather alone being separated into sub-categories, including bombers, blousons and bikers – that it might take you a beat to contemplate “the one.”
The pre-fall collections, which have been dropping thick and fast this December, contain plenty of jacket inspiration – each one imbued with its own personality. At Gucci, Demna made his woman a “boss”, with an alpha uniform of a black polo neck, tailored pants, horsebit pumps and a grey pinstriped blazer.
Meanwhile, autumn’s trending funnel neck isn’t going anywhere in 2026, with pleasingly elongated takes at Lanvin, whose ribbed funnel crowned a cropped wool jacket, and Victoria Beckham. There were also showings of varsity-style blousons (Louis Vuitton) and good old denim button-downs (Diesel, which gave its cotton a new-gen spin with a cable-knit print).
However, what’s most noteworthy is the comeback of several “basics”. I’m thinking of the leather biker, which made a return on the streets of Paris Fashion Week, as well as denim jackets with front-button plackets. There’s also plenty of comfort-first options, such as structured fleece jackets, which majored outside Miu Miu.
