With its generous proportions, buttery leather exterior and “softly structured” handles, The Row’s most talked-about accessory, the Margaux, remains the textbook definition of a modern It-bag. It regularly sells out in store and online but can always be found listed at inflated prices on various resale platforms. Some would say it’s the “perfect” designer handbag (especially those who aren’t fazed by the price tag).
For those who are, there is an alternative (and one that is similarly Olsen-approved). Hot on the heels of the Margaux? The Row mini bags, which are smaller than the brand’s totes and offer a different, though no less covetable, set of qualities. A note: these accessories still sit firmly within the category of “investment purchase”.
You’ll find plenty of options to make your osteopath smile within the “small bags” section on Therow.com – including a scaled-down version of the Margaux, the N/S Park Tote and the Devon, all of which are spare in design and will pair seamlessly with other design classics: straight-leg jeans, tailored coats, pointed ankle boots and the like. The N/S Park Tote is particularly good, a minimal bucket style that makes up for what it lacks in bells and whistles (there are none) with a shape that feels simultaneously ’90s and timeless (Hailey Bieber is a huge fan).
Elsewhere, the “ergonomic” Half Moon bag, first introduced in 2014 and beloved by brand devotees, remains a permanent fixture. Erica Wright, who runs the fashion sourcing app Sourcewhere, previously told Vogue: “The Half Moon bag already feels like it’s a part of your wardrobe. The lack of logos, patterns and bright colourways make it a risk-free investment. Shoppers today place less importance on what’s ‘new,’ and more on how timeless and rare pieces are.”
