Boots does not do Black Friday by halves. It’s the biggest sales event of the year, and the retailer leads the charge when it comes to skincare, haircare, fragrance and tech savings.

When does the Boots Black Friday sale start?

Boots’ sale is no longer limited to just Cyber Week, which has traditionally taken place from Black Friday (which is on 28 November this year) to Cyber Monday (1 December). The sale has already begun at Boots.

Browsing through the more than 20,000 products on sale can be overwhelming. I have been reporting on Black Friday for nearly a decade, and there are some simple steps that I always take to ensure that I am maximising the sales without impulse shopping or risking buyer’s remorse.

I will be taking advantage of the discounts by stocking up on everyday basics, from shampoo to cleanser, while also saving my splurges for luxury serums from Shiseido, Guerlain or Lancome that I already had my eye on.

Boots has also established itself as a K-beauty destination, and some of my favourite Korean labels are being discounted: this is your chance to discover viral products from Beauty of Joseon, Dr Jart, Erborian and Laneige for less.

Plus: festive season is right around the corner. This is the optimal time to invest in gifts for the Dyson devotees and Fenty Beauty fans in your life. Who wouldn’t want to discover a smartwatch, LED face mask or styling tool in their stocking?

Medicube

Collagen Night Wrapping Cream

Why it is Vogue-approved: Hyped all over social platforms as part of ‘the morning shed’ trend, this innovative overnight mask uses collagen extract to improve the elasticity and suppleness of skin as you sleep. Applying a thin layer after your evening skincare also helps encourage better penetration of products and promotes a glass-like finish when you wake.

Ingredients: collagen

Prada Glow Balm

Dior

Miss Dior Eau De Parfum 50ml

  • Fragrance Family: Amber Floral
  • Key Notes: Iris, Peony, Apricot, Rose, Peach, Vanilla, Musk, Tonka Bean, Benzoin and Sandalwood
  • Why this is a Vogue top pick: With fresh notes of peony and iris blended with creamy musks, vanilla, and a hint of tonka bean, the Miss Dior Eau de Parfum is soft, sensual and the ultimate fan favourite. Finished with a ribbon flourish, it’s also the perfume gift that practically wraps itself – what’s not to love?

Laura Mercier

Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Uber-fine, smoothing and blurring, Laura Mercier’s famed setting powder is one of our favourites for good reason. Use it to lock in your party season make-up looks – its filter-effect veil ensures your glam won’t smudge or budge.

Beauty Of Joseon

Relief Sun: Rice+Probiotics SPF50+

An airy emulsion of rice water and calming extracts that you can apply over the eyes, with zero stinging or white cast. Light and hydrating, it absorbs quickly and dries down to a glowy satin finish, so is also essential for anyone on the quest to achieve glass skin.

Clinique

Quickliner For Eyes Eyeliner Pencil

  • Why we love it: “This is a fantastic everyday liner for mature skin,” says makeup artist Alexa Perisco. “It’s smooth, gentle, and retractable, so there’s no pulling or sharpening.” She adds that the formula is creamy enough to blend but long-lasting, so it stays put. “I often recommend smoky brown or black-brown for a softer, more flattering finish on mature eyes,” she notes. Adhering to Clinique’s Eye Safety Promise, which applies to its mascaras, liners, and lid colour, the formula is also ophthalmologist-tested and safe for sensitive eyes and contact-lens wearers.
  • Key ingredients: Vitamin E
  • Shades: 11
  • Type: Creamy automatic pencil
  • Waterproof: No

La Roche-Posay

La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVAir Daily Invisible Fluid SPF50+

  • Type: light fluid/serum
  • Sun Protection Factor: 50
  • Mineral/chemical: chemical
  • Texture: Ultra-light lotion
  • Key ingredients: Glycerin, vitamin E, thermal spring water, silica
  • Why it’s Vogue-approved: Hate wearing SPF but know it’s a must? La Roche-Posay’s new Anthelios UVAir is the formula for you. You can’t go wrong with any of La Roche-Posay’s cult line of ultra-efficacious SPFs – and this is the latest launch from the brand. Incredibly lightweight, it contains UVAir technology and a next-gen UV filter that targets the ultra-long UVA rays that are responsible for deep skin ageing, which helps fend off oiliness (for up to 16 hours) and hydrates, thanks to hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. “My new favourite SPF (and my husband’s too), this formula couldn’t be more comfortable to use – make-up sits well over the top of it, and while it’s not the cheapest on the market, it without a doubt offers the best technology for the affordable price,” says contributing beauty editor, Hannah Coates. “There’s a reason why dermatologists all recommend this brand.” Sweat-resistant and easy to apply, it’s also fragrance-free and suits even the most sensitive of skin types.

YSL Beauty

YSL Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick

  • Why We Love It: Lip gloss sticks are severely underrated in my opinion. These deliver the lustre without the gloopiness of a traditional liquid, making them sometimes easier and arguably more elegant to apply. If that sounds compelling to you, give the YSL Candy Glaze a go. There are 12 shades total, from a clear, plumping hue to the cherry-tinted Red Crush, each enriched with hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and mango oils for hydration so good you could ditch your lip balm all together.
  • Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and mango oils
  • Shades: 12

Emporio Armani

Armani Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer

As skin ages, it tends to lose its natural radiance. This primer, infused with hydrating ingredients like shea butter and glycerine as well as polymers and plenty of light-reflecting pigments, is ideal for adding a subtle glow to skin pre-base. Although you can apply it with the same brush as your foundation, it’s just as easy to smooth a pea-sized amount over skin with your fingers. While radiance is a given, it also blurs imperfections and leaves skin looking and feeling smooth.

YSL Beauty

Touche Éclat YSL Blur Primer

Fine lines can cause make-up to gather and give the appearance of an uneven skin surface. To negate that, this brightening, blurring formula uses light diffusing technology in a refreshing gel texture to smooth over and blur fine lines and leave a radiant, even finish. The formula also allows your make-up to glide on seamlessly and locks it in place for hours.

Dr. Jart+

Pore Remedy PHA Exfoliating Serum

Why we love it: With seven per cent polyhydroxy acid, this clever serum is great for sensitive skin types, plus it’s super efficient at getting rid of blackheads and uneven texture over time.

StriVectin

Anti-Wrinkle Peptide Plump Serum

  • Why we love it: While some serums rely on several peptides to deliver results, that’s not the case with this formula. It uses a single, proprietary peptide that encourages the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid – which falls with age across the board – to deliver both immediate and long-term plumping. That makes it potent enough to offset even stubborn wrinkles, like those on the forehead.
  • Other ingredients: red algae extract, turmeric root extract
  • Size: 30 ml

Laura Mercier

Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation
