The “clean” manicure has done the rounds on social media and appeared on the runways at Chanel, Stella McCartney and Toteme. It isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, either. “I think 2026 will be the era of short nails,” says Novakovic. “The short and discreet manicure has a chic touch.” The secret? Well-groomed and maintained skin and nails. “Apply nourishing oils and moisturising creams as aftercare – you’ll notice the difference straight away.”

Pantone’s colour of the year is Cloud Dancer, a specific shade of white that Novakovic expects to see popping up in salons in 2026. According to Pantone the colour Cloud Dancer was selected for its “calming presence, its ability to inspire reflection and its versatility in a variety of design disciplines”. The versatile shade also works no matter the length or shape of your nail.

“Darker shades of brown have dominated fashion and beauty for some time now,” Novakovic shares. “In 2026, I believe that browns will be lighter and cooler tones will appear, such as dark beige and cappuccino.”

If nail accessories feel far too flashy for your taste, perhaps consider Novakovic’s more subtle take. Novakovic strategically places subtle gold and silver dots, delicate gems, stickers and even 3D gel art on each nail. Ideal for those looking for a (slightly) more decorative look.
